Breed Origins – The poodle is one of the oldest breeds of dog ever documented. However, there is still some controversy over what breeds were used to create the poodle. It has been stated that they are a combination of Spanish, Russian, German, Portuguese, Hungarian and French water dogs. We are sure you will agree that is quite a combination of dogs. There are several theories regarding the origin of the breed. We do know that the smaller breeds started to come about during the 1400’s.
